Work With Me

Career Counselling for High School Students

Making education and career decisions when you’re 16 or 17 is hard. I can help.

If you’re feeling confused and overwhelmed, that’s completely natural! There are so many options! Did you know that there are an estimated 12,000 different occupations? And that there are over 3,000 university programs, and over 2,000 college programs in Ontario alone?!

Not only are there tons of options, there’s also a lot of pressure. If you’re going to be spending a career doing something, this choice is a big deal. You want to choose wisely. You want to be happy!

I want you to stop worrying. We will figure this out together. This is exactly what I do. I’ll help you move forward confidently, with a clear direction that feels true to you.

First and foremost, career planning will get you started on a path to a career you’ll enjoy. As a career counsellor, that’s my number one goal, no matter who I’m working with.

  • Do you want your career to provide a creative outlet?

  • Make a contribution to society?

  • Help you become an innovator?

Together we’ll answer these questions and many, many more. Or we can confirm whether an option you’ve been considering, like becoming a doctor, is the right fit for you.

Are you ready to work with a career counsellor?

Are you comfortable talking about yourself and your experiences? Can you name some of your strengths and interests, some of the things you’re proud of? You don’t have to have all the answers yet … I’ll be helping you to discover more in-depth responses to these questions. But you will need to help me along. I’ll need input from you all through the process, so that I know we’re on the right track.

Let’s find clarity together.

Finding career clarity is not as simple as filling out a career assessment with the guidance counsellor. If it were, we’d have mostly nurses, scientists, and electricians — and everybody would be delighted with their jobs. My process is about more than checking a few boxes — it goes much deeper. This is about seeing you — and guiding you to career clarity.

Over 20+ years, I’ve crafted a process that works — really works — to give my clients and their families relief, direction, confidence and excitement about the future.

This is how the Career Clarity process works:

We'll meet once a week for five weeks, with each session lasting 60 - 75 minutes. Meetings are conducted via Zoom and you’ll need to be on a desktop or laptop (not your phone).

Session 1:

Getting to know the real you begins with deeply understanding who you are and what drives you. In our first meeting, I will invite your parents or guardians to share their insights, as they hold valuable information about you from childhood to the present. I aim to discover what attracted you as a child, what made you happy, your favorite memories, and your school experiences. By identifying what excites and engages you, we lay the foundation for our discovery journey.

Session 2:

Our second meeting focuses on interpreting the results of two personality assessments—Personality Dimensions and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator—which offer insights into your personal strengths and preferences.

Session 3:

Our third meeting focuses on interpreting the results of the Strong Interest Inventory, which identifies your unique interest patterns.

Sessions 4 & 5:

The fourth and fifth meetings are dedicated to reviewing potential educational pathways and career options, incorporating your feedback to help refine the list of possibilities.

At the end of each meeting:

I will assign a small amount of homework including assessments and exercises relating to your specific career needs and goals.

At the end of the process:

You’ll receive a comprehensive final report that includes all assessment results, a detailed and customized list of educational pathways and career options suited to you, as well as a tailored set of considerations and recommendations for your review. This completed career guide will serve as a valuable reference for your ongoing research and decision-making throughout your career.

Investment:

$1,525.00, including all standardized assessments, and your customized, comprehensive career guide.

To book, a $500 deposit is required, with the remaining amount due one week prior to our first meeting.

Payments can be made online by credit card, or by Interac e-Transfer.
